EXCUSE ME!
Why don't you just tell us it is none of our business? When Supervisor Matt Rexroad reminded us that "the county is not obligated to discuss the issue with the public as land negotiations are legally privileged under the Brown Act" he was basically telling us that the Government should control our land use and we need to shut up!
I would like to remind the Supervisors that they are elected officials and that we as voters are
watching the activities carefully and if they do not represent our wishes we will get rid of them.
This is a new day and the rules have changed!

Finally shows his true colors? Pleaaaaase. I dislike Rexroad's policies as much as anyone else in the county, but he's always quite honest and up front. If anything, that's why I don't see him getting too far in politics ultimately... and why I like him as a person, even if I can't agree with him on anything.
Well, we still live in a democracy I think and that's what irks me the most about this whole deal. Trust me, they've worked out all the details and plan to push it forward whether anyone likes it or not. And yes he did essentially say it's none of our business.
I challenge the assertion that our jail is so terribly overcrowded and in need of expansion in the first place. It's my understanding that our jail was so desperate to fill beds that Sac Co contracted with us to hold their inmates and juvenile offenders. If true, that undermines their whole argument for this boondoggle as I understand it.
Of course people in Zamora and Dunnigan are angry - who wants a prison next door? I wonder if we were proposing putting it near the so-called 'historic part of Woodland' whether people would go for it. I know they were excited when bus routes were proposed in their neighborhoods.
Rexroad was upfront in his comments. Even if he and Duane were against it the other three board members are going to make it happen. The $30 million towards a new expanded jail facility is just to big a carrot for them to pass up. They will cut County programs if they do not get the $30 million?
Actually, the Probation Department contracts with Sacramento to take some of their juvenile offenders to house in juvenile hall which actually benefits Yolo County because it pays for the services that we otherwise couldn't afford. They are making ends meet with this money and it's a good thing for the county.
That is not the case at all. I was asked the question about why people had not been told about it in prior meetings.
I answered the question that was asked of me.
If you want to get rid of me -- that is fine.
I never told anyone to "shut up".

Matt:
The warning of "we will get rid of them" holds true for ALL elected officials, not aimed at you specifically. We only ask that you and the other supervisors who oppose such projects have the courage of your convictions to stand by what you believe in and let us make the decision whether we feel you are representing our best interests.
If you are representing us with our best interests in mind, by not expressing your beliefs, you rob us from a chance to rally behind your position.
