WOODLAND RECEIVING $14.8 MILLION DOLLARS FOR WATER METERS +

As reported in the September 25, 2009 edition of the Sacramento Business Journal, Woodland is receiving $14.8 Million to, among other things, install water meters.  In light of this amount, it seems that they will have to re-work the rates increase sent to all residents recently to accomodate this sudden influx of monies.

Within the story it mentions that they will use some of the money to pay for the Water Tower replacement on Beamer, a long-standing questionable venture, and to pay for new water wells.

If they don't lower the rates, they must have had something else in mind with the original proposal.

WATER RATE UPDATE

If you have questions about the Water Rate Increase, and have time, we suggest you go to the "Infrastructure Committee Meeting" agenda of September 6,2008. This appears as part of the September 30, 2008 "Report to Mayor and City Council, and begins on page 7 or 48.

The "Basics of Water Metering" begins on page 11 of the "Infrastructure report".  Please read items 1 and 2.

There is a much larger issue at stake here than just the rate you will be paying for water.

You will note on the letter you have received, once the meters are in place, the bill is split into two sections, The Basic Rate, and the Consumption rate.  It looks like the city has done this so that an "Enterprise Fund" can be set up for capitol improvements etc (which must support itself) and consumption rates for the water you use, based on how much you use.

This could potentially cause your rates to skyrocket.

What do you think? We believe that there are serious questions as to direction and intent that need to be raiseed and answered before the City Council can take action on November 3, 2009

WATER BILLS TO INCREASE-NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT

If you are a property owner in Woodland, you should have received your letter within the last few days regarding the proposed increase in your water rates.

I highly recommend that you call (Per their instructions at the bottom of the second page) the Public Works Department at (530) 661-5962, and ask them how your bill will be calculated.  You should also call the Finance Department at (530) 661-5830 and ask them the same question.

There will be further updates to this information.

YOUR STIMULUS DOLLARS AT WORK

Perhaps you have not traveled the river road lately. If you do you will have a slight delay getting to Sacramento.
This is one of the projects being funded by your stimulus dollars.  I wonder, however, how many people are involved, and what percentage of the money being spent is in administrative costs.  If this is the way President Obama plans on putting "America Back To Work" it is going to take a long time to have any results, particularly since the unemployment rate just hit 12%.

Maybe the Sign in front really means something!!!!

POLICE CHIEF GETS "INTERIM RAISE" AS PARKS AND REC SUPERVISOR

As mentioned on Wedenesday by THE BY HELL CHRONICLES, Woodland's police chief will be receiving an "interim raise" to supervise the  Parks And Recreation department.

There are not a lot of concrete details but this was the explanation, thus far, for the move "The additional compensation will only be for the period of the assignment.  The interim assignment replaces the three full time managers that were at Parks and Rec. As the City downsizes and reorganizes, shifts of the remaining managers will need to occur."

I guess many of us would like to see numbers.  Apparently there are those on the City Council would like to know a little more too.  Here is today's story in the Daily Democrat    HERE

WILL WOOLAND LOSE ANOTHER RESTAURANT?????

It looks like Woodland has dodged a bullet.  Apparently, although sources are scarce, the bankruptcy of Kobra Properties, and the closure of some 71 Jack In The Box restaurants has missed Woodland.  According to the Contra Costa Times, it does affect Chico and Oroville, as well as others. "FROM TINY ACORNS GROWS THE MIGHTY CHOKE"

According to POLITICO, the Senate voted on Monday to "bar any new federal money for ACORN-The Association of Community Organizations of Reform Now" from the Deparment of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development.

A move to expand the ban to ALL government agencies is now progressing.

You can read the entire story here

It has been widely know that ACORN has played an integral part in the strong SEIU (Service Employees International Union), and has been in many documented spurious activities in the past. The latest scandal has finally brought to light many of those involved and brings into question millions of tax dollars used to fund their activities.

TEA PARTY IN WASHINGTON D.C.

The Tea Party held yesterday, according to the Sacramento Bee, had "Tens of Thousands of of conservative protesters".  Contrary to the Bee's statement "They are a part of a loose-knit movement galvanizing anti-Obama sentiment accross the nation", this is not a loose-knit movement, but rather a grassroots endeavor to preserve the American Way.

Steny Hoyer Addressing a "TOWNHALL MEETING" in Maryland

You only need to listen to the instructions from the Moderator and Steny Hoyer's statement  as to what this townhall meeting was about.  Watch Here.

This reinforces the belief by many that the "Selling of Obamacare" by many is merely in form, not substance.

It seems we are being told one thing, while the results are quite the opposite.

IN THE PRESIDENT'S OWN WORDS!

In a townhall meeting, U.S. representative Wally Herger praised a speaker, who referred to himself as a "Right Wing Terrorist", perhaps in jest. and got slammed by the media and others.

The following is a snapshot of The President's own website, which has since been modified.  Take a look at this snap shot of the website before it was changed:

If The President can call all of those who disagree with him "Right Wing Domestic Terrorists"  then the same reference should be useable by anyone .

Assembly Votes to Release Prisoners

In a long debate, seen on the State Channel last night, the Assembly voted in favor of a bill that the proponents call a "Prison Reform Bill", and the opponents say it is an "Early Release Bill."

While the words "EARLY RELEASE BILL" do not appear in the bill, the clear intent and provisions of credits for early release very clearly show that this is an "Early Release Bill", though categorically denied by the Democratic side of the aisle.

Assembly member Mariko Yamada (Your Assembly Member) voted for the Bill. If this early release of prisoners results in the death of anyone in our district, it can be laid in part to her vote.
