A quote from Thomas Jefferson  reminds us that  "Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson

At this writing, within 1 1/2 hours,  the Senate is going to vote to continue the health care bill.

The dialogue between the parties today has been heated, and I belive indicates that if the bill passes, we as proud Americans and believers in Capitalism,  will have to take the debate to a new level and resort to extraordinary means to stop this tyranny.

If you feel otherwise, watch what happens to your own health care and reflect on this date and time, and who brought this in to being.

Todays Business Journal (paper version only) begins, what we believe, to be an all out  attack by the Obama Administration on "Medicare Advanatage" health plans.

UCD Med Center announced that at as of December 31, 2009 it is dissolving its health maintenance organization contracts with Health Net of California and Western Health Advantage affecting 2,500 seniors in our area.

While the story would seem to blame low enrollment and losses they have sustained,  I suspect they can see the possible future of health care. since in large part the Obama Health Care debacle is going to be funded by severe cuts in "Medicare Advantage" plans throughout the nation.

You should check with your loved ones to see if they need help finding out what kind of plan they have.

This is a warning sign for all those with this type of coverage that the Obama Admistration is not your friend.

WJUSD Takes $400,000 away from school sports programs.

At the December 10, 2009 Board of Trustees meeting, the decision was made to cut $400,000 for support of athletic programs in our schools.

To try and salvage the programs, it was suggested that if teachers would accept 5 furlough days, the programs could be saved.  This proposal astounds me.  Other school districts have tried this and miserably failed, especially when the teachers union gets involved. The end of this proposal is far from over.

My suggestion is that for each day of furlough offered by the teachers, a school administrator takes a furlough  day as well.

Why should teachers be expected to shoulder the entire burden, and not the administration.

MegaLo Manor, aka. Blue Shield Building, aka. WJUSD Ditrict Office

When ever the topic of the WJUSD district office comes up in a conversation, it is usually awkward, since it really doesn't have a name.  Some say the school district office, others say the old Blue Shield Building, while others have names that I would not repeat in this blog.

We have decided to call it  the "MegaLo Manor" from the root word "megalomania".Webster's New World Dictionary defines it as "1. a mental disorder characterized by delusions of grandeur, wealth, power etc. 2. a passion  for, or for doing, big things. 3. a tendency to exaggerate.

At the December 10, 2009 meeting, the MegaLo Manor will be discussed, as to whether they might rent out 5 of the 10 conference rooms currently vacant.  I wonder how much of a dent that will make, considering  the lease payment on the building starting in 2008 was $445,000 per year,  and at the end of the lease in 2038 it will be  $1,018,424 per year.

Oh well!  I guess they will figure it out somehow.

Woodland Joint Unified Board Meeting Should be interesting!

On December 10, 2009, next Thursday night, the Woodland Joint Unified School District will hold a board meeting to decide how to "TRIM" the deficit they face.

YOU SHOULD ATTEND THE MEETING IF POSSIBLE, held at the Blue Shield "Megola-plex" on Sixth Street.  Leasing of  5 (half of the 10 available) empty conference rooms there will be discussed along with other options to cut the deficit.

By attending, you will see the real, or perceived financial condition of the district.  I wonder if this is just a stalling tactic, awaiting for the next hit of Stimulus funds?

We urge you to become a part!
