IF YOU ARE GOING TO VOTE FOR THE 1/4 % SALES TAX INCEASE YOU MIGHT WANT TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE REALLY VOTING FOR!
HEARD ON THE STREET:
1. I AM VOTING YES ON THE SALES TAX BECAUSE IT WILL GO TO THE LIBRARY
2. I AM VOTING YES ON THE SALES TAX BECAUSE IT WILL GO TO PARKS AND RECREATIONS.
3. I AM VOTING YES ON THE SALES TAX BECAUSE IT IS GOING TO PUBLIC SAFETY.
ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE INCORRECT. THE SALES TAX WILL GO INTO THE GENERAL FUND!
DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE ADVISORY MEASURES, ALSO ON THE BALLOT. THEY ARE "NON-BINDING" AND ARE DESIGNED IN PART TO GIVE DIRECTION TO THE COUNCIL WHERE TO SPEND THE MONEY. SHOULD THE COUNCIL DECIDE TO SPEND IT IN OTHER AREAS THEY ARE FREE TO DO SO.
WE ARE URGING A NO VOTE ON THE SALES TAX INCREASE.
PLEASE JOIN US.

I see you are raising hell again ;-)
I agree with you. The economy is in a terrible state and the politicians are trying to balance and justify their overspending and saleries. The head of the departments are making way to much.
This sales tax will not help and is a slap in the face to the citizens that have had their water, power, waste and other fees increase significantly in the past few years.
The tax while small on a gallon of milk will be a tremendous and dire to the farming community selling seeds, buying tractors etc... and will edge Woodland at a 10% sales tax rate if combined with the County proposed increase. Just consider the tax increase on a dairy using $30K worth of hay a month and this cost will result in the price of milk etc... going up to the comsumer. Double Whammy.
Consider the average income in Woodland is $36K and then compare this to what govt officals take in. For example the Sups make $70K + car + Iphones + Computers... for an ELECTED offical & they have two aids at $70K a piece; while employees are being laid off.
To get out of this we need to first cut elected officials wages, then govt. size, saleries and spending.
This will add some breathing room and decrease the need for additional taxes.
Business are FLEEING this state as it is so much cheaper to operate elsewhere.
MY OPINION IS BASED ON THE FACT THESE PEOPLE HAVE NOT EARNED IT - NO SALES TAX INCREASE FOR WOODLAND OR THE COUNTY - LEARN TO LIVE IN YOUR BUDGET. CONSOLIDATE BUILDINGS AND JOB DUTIES. CUT WAGES, DEPARTMENT HEADS & SERVICES!
This tax is just stupid. Even the City manager does not support it.
I guess Rexroad does not as well; but does support a County tax.
Question: Will the County tax be added to the sales tax in each City?
